Thanks George so this makes minecraft good?

I tried looking at the mod pack but it had little information on what it actually does to the game.

I have played 5 minutes of minecraft. If it is good will try it out.

Good is always relative. Did you ever wish you could play an easier, non-combat version of LiF on an Etch A Sketch? Then Minecraft is the game for you!

There is combat, but also way easier than LiF.

Plus there aren't other people to fight against without requesting a duel

If you liked base building in planetside, play MC...it's got about 1000000x the options and no restrictions about where and what you can build

and its graphics is about as good as Planetside's potato mode... if it got converted to ASCII, printed out on dot matrix, eaten by a pigeon, the pigeon gets eaten by a human, vomited back up, eaten again, shat out and deposited into a V2 rocket, fired across the continent into the UK landing in the Thames, eaten by another pigeon then turned into a pie, set on fire, and then programmed into 'modern graphics' by a 2 year old

Server now has a whitelist so you will need to ask Maximus to be added to it before you can connect. Everyone is welcome though it's just to prevent any trolls trying to join the server.

on a modded minecraft it's not about the graphics at all. And if you absolutely have to you can install insanely resource intensive graphical packs that make the game look amazing. But it's really not about that for us, it's all about the building of crazy systems etc.

Yeah all good I do understand that minecraft is not about the graphics! Although I would be interested in checking out one of those graphical packs you speak of, just for my own interest!

Texture packs are kind of a mixed bag George. You'd be best off looking for a 32p set as they tend to strike a balance between graphical fidelity and performance. Download the mod pack and then close the game. When you open the launcher again you can swap to a texture pack tab that has a few options for you. They've got most (but not all) of the nodded blocks added on there already.

The FTB launcher really is the most user friendly interface for new players so give that a shot before you go looking for other ones as you'll most likely have to install additional packs due to mods.

I ended up with some curse launcher, is that the right one?

Yeah the new launcher is done through Curse, but you can still download the legacy 'Feed the beast' launcher from the FTB website.

Is it better to have one over the other?

Makes no difference to the game, just the curse launcher is slicker but also tries to be its own mini steam with friends and streamer integration bullshit that you don't need.
