Mechwarrior Online

TrolliN

Hi everyone!

Just like to make everyone aware of the new Flavor of the Month game that has been gaining a lot of traction among our Cooler members Mechwarrior Online.

It is a slow paced first person shooter / tank hybrid type game that sees you in the cockpit of up to 100T giant robots.

Everyone is loving it so far and we have seen the return of many members waiting for something to dive into. Check the community games section for some more discussion on the game.

Currently games kick off after 8pm peaking around 9-10 but every fortnight we have a big Mech night.

F2P model so jump on in!

Keen to get back into some online gaming later this coming week - what pack should I buy for this game? Would prefer something up close, high alpha, hit and run.

Mate prob isnt worth spending money on mech packs. 30 bucks a mech and packs go u to 200+ dollars.

Buy premium time for a month would be best investment. Rest on mech bays.

Play tutorial and use trial mechs and you can buy first mech very quickly.

Or ignore the above buy the kodiac pack. Use the kodiak kdk3 http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=408&l=11610eaf8a620c8e2f1903cd325ef38de75e2e3e use the daka loadout and be a beast for 2 months before nerf.

Basically walk at any mech going dakdakdak and watch it fall apart.

If not timberwolfs always been top mechs.

The main issue is @Dismos is you don't know what playstyle you want. They have heaps of trial mechs of all different sizes and strengths so you give each about 5 matches each until you know what you like. By then, and provided you did the full tutorial, you'll have shiiiiiteloads of mech cash so you can buy any mech you want. Tutorials (2 parts) gives you 5million, your first 25 games gives you another 10m or something like that. Most mech builds cost 8-14m each.

If you want to speed the process then drop $15 USD on the game and go premium for a month. It gives you 50% bonuses on xp etc and will make the biggest difference up front. Keep in mind it's USD and our exchange is shit right now, so unless you use poundsy as your broker then expect to pay around $23 for the $15 premium time. Buying a mech pack is around $45AUD and since you don't even know what kind of class or build you like, it's not worth the risk. To add to this reasoning - at the start I used all the long range sniper mechs and thought that's what I wanted. I tried out a light with lots of close quarters lasers and love it so much I haven't touched long range / larger mechs since.

I like this game since it was when I was first experimenting with jumping off mountains. It kinda works.

aaand this one is me spending a bit more time right up next to the friendlies giving them my ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) protection, and bouncing around finishing jerks off.

Paz bringing the mech-era trance and CRT aspect ratio. Probably has mIRC idling on 20 channels in the background.

In the background? Dedicated 17" CRT to the side with the 20 channels, thank you very much.
